Keep Your Finances Safe on Your Smartphone
As your community bank, it is important to us to help you protect your finances from cybercriminals.
There is a new threat affecting Android smartphones where malware can enter your phone through a text message. The text message may present itself as a fake link to a Mobile Banking login screen, where a user will then be prompted to enter their account credentials. Once the credentials are entered, cybercriminals can then take the information to access a user's real Internet Banking account. How can you protect yourself?
- Be sure to only download smartphone apps from the Google Play Store on Android, or the iTunes/App Store on iPhones and iPads. Apps from third-party sources are not secure.
- Keep your phone updated. When you get a notification to update the software on your phone, you should update immediately to ensure your security features are current.
- Do not click on links from questionable text messages or emails. If it doesn't look real, it probably is not.
